Ups and Downs

This week has been a challenge. A very emotional draining one at that.
The goods; celebrated a birthday and a long awaited birth of a filly.
The bads; had to fire one girl from work and lost two amazing animals this week, one unfortunately being the same filly born this week.
It sucks. Big time. I think I'm more upset over the death of two horses that I am at the issue from work. Not too sure if that's good or bad. . . .
Both of the horse that passed belong to good friends of mine. Charlie, was a strawberry roan Belgium, who sadly succumbed to equine protozoan myopathy on Tuesday. He was 31 years young and thanks to his owner Aaron, lived the last years of his life with lots of love and happiness. Pixi, a beautiful little Thoroughbred filly, was born on the same day Charlie passed. She was shy, sweet and had legs that went for miles. She stole the heart of anyone who looked a her. Sadly today we found her collapsed in the brood stall, unable to stand and shaking terribly. The vet was called and came out, but sadly was not able to help. She had a suspected intestinal inception, and we would not have been able to get her to the closes animal hospital in time to save her. She passed surrounded by her owner Cate, myself and a friend Alexis. She will be sadly and dearly missed. It's not fair and my heart just aches for them all.
